Over the last two months i have been working with the Japanese state TV broadcaster, NHK. NHK are the equivalent of the BBC in the United Kingdom. They broadcast to millions of people throughout the world in a wide range of different languages.
I was contacted by a director of NHK earlier this year as they are looking to film an episode of a travel documentary in the Peak District. I have lived and worked in the Peak District nearly all of my life. Thirty five years worth of local experience.
Each day i am a Location Manager for NHK organising, planning, supporting and informing of local customs. It feels peculiar as normally my clients are walkers, trail or fell runners, young Duke of Edinburgh adults etc… . Working with a TV company is a slice of variety which i look forward to. I am tapping into my local knowledge to assist all the time.
Working with NHK has reminded me how much passion i hold for the Peak District national park.
Here is the first of a series of blogs in which i document our day(s) moving slowly through the Peak District. Starting in the White Peak and moving through to the Dark Peak.
If you are interested in exploring the Peak District i offer a range of activities. Guided walks and trail and fell running are two options. I also teach map and compass navigation so people can be self sufficient in the hills and mountains. Have a look around my website. Email or phone me and i will respond the same day.
