I spend alot of time outdoors with clients and friends and i often get asked What is my favourite season of the year? Winter is my favourite season by quite a long distance. I love how the mountains and countryside change through autumn into winter and i like cold weather, especially blue skies. High pressure and northerly winds get me very excited.
I keep a very close eye on the mountain weather every day. The prospect of even a small amount of snow in the Peak District and i’m looking forward it.
Well last night we got our snow in the Dark Peak. It wasn’t much compared to the Cairngorm, Highlands or the west coast of Scotland but its something.
Here are some of my photos of a run i did this morning up to around 500 metres of height. Keep a close eye on your footwork if your out in the hills in winter and take a bit more food, drink, gear and clothing than usual.
Windchill is a big factor at an increased height level. Enjoy yourself and stay safe. Don’t be afraid to turn back!
