Yesterday i was joined by a group of ladies that i initially guided on a walk of mine in the Peak District last year.

This year we made Coniston in the Lake District our start point as the ladies were on a short break up in the national park.
As in our previous venture the ladies had pre-booked the weather and after meticulously checking the Met office and MWIS mountain and summit weather reports i could not find a flaw in their day.
We set off from Coniston, heading along Walna Scar road ascending past the Coppermines Youth Hostel to the summit of the “Old Man of Coniston.”
The uphill section around “Dow crag” at 778 meters did not seem to bother the ladies that much. I was struggling to lead, talk and ascend quick enough to keep up with them!
A hefty pace was set.

Once at the busy summit of “the old man of Coniston” (803 meters) we then decided to walk, bristly of course to the summit of “Brim fell” at 795 meters. The views to the east, down to Low water and Levers water were gorgeous.
As we headed further northwards along the ridge we had great views of Coniston water and Lake Windermere. “Swirl How” was the next port of call at 804 meters and we stopped around this area for lunch in the sun and out of the wind.

Still maintaining a furious pace we headed to the last summit of the day, “Wetherlam” at 762 meters of height. At this summit we talked about our options for the rest of the day and after consideration we started to descend south eastwards to Coniston.

A good day shared with cracking company, and pre-booked excellent weather what more could you ask for?
Thank you ladies.

Cheers. Your determination has spurred me on. Thank you.
What a good alternative it is to spend some girly time away from it all in the fresh air clearing your mind! Fab idea.
