Today Elena joined myself and Louise in Edale, Derbyshire for a hilly walk and chat in preparation for the Yorkshire three peaks challenge.
Elena is a determined person. Having traveled and worked in many countries she is now part of the graduate scheme at RBS.
Me, Louise and Elena headed straight up to Hollins cross from Edale with little bother. A sturdy pace was set from the start. Hollins cross offers good viewing points into the Hope valley and the vale of Edale.
We could see the cumulus clouds building so we headed along the ridge to Lose Hill to beat the rain.
Soon after reaching the top of Lose hill it started to rain. The clouds and the little amount of wind suggested this was in for a few hours.
We decided to descend back to Edale and go to National Trust Penny Pot cafe as a reward. Whilst enjoying the food we spoke about suitable footwear and what to carry on the day of the challenge walk. Preparation is important.
I feel that Elena will be well suited to deal with twenty plus miles of walking involved in the three Yorkshire peaks challenge. A good way of raising money for charity and a social way of keeping fit. Sounds good to me. Well done today Elena.
