I managed to get a few days back to back free in my diary this week and decided it had been too long since i visited the Lake District. I drove up to meet a friend at Wasdale head with the idea of two days of scrambling on grade 2 & 3 terrain. This unfortunately never took off as the intermittent showers left the rock soaking wet and super slippy. Try as we might every time we got the rope out it heralded a fresh downpour. Our luck was out.
That said we had a cracking time plodding around the high edges of Wasdale, spending a night near Haystacks with a gorgeous sunset and then heading around and down into the Ennerdale valley and back up and over Wind Gap to the Wasdale Head Inn.
Two nine hour days of walking each day with loads of peaks reached with big rucksacks certainly will work on our stamina. A great sunset too as we camped looking down to Buttermere. Here are some photos.
