After monitoring synoptic charts for the last few days the weather appeared ideal for a walk today. My prediction was right! I had the weather on my side and set out to further explore the moors of the dark Peak to around a height of 500 metres.
I wanted to focus this walk on enjoyment and building my fitness further. I’ve being climbing and road cycling a lot recently.
I was inspired by the book, Peak Rock, a climbing history of the Peak district, I’m currently rereading. The gritstone walls i saw on my walk reminded me of the same rock on Stanage edge, on which i have climbed frequently over the years.
I often paused to look through my wild flower guide as there is currently an abundance of flora flurishing in the acid soaked soil.
I have included some lovely photographs below.
