Today i was join by Leanne and her dog on a short break from the hustle and bustle of London.
After meeting in the scenic village of Hayfield we headed up Coldwell clough and Oaken clough in search of late summer countryside.

The rolling hill terrain reminded Leanne of growing up surrounded by the hills of Wellington, New Zealand. We exchanged conversation about New Zealand as i tried not to act jealous after visiting and guiding on the South island years ago. Franz Josef, the Fox glacier, The hermitage around the base of Mount cook and Milford sound bring back fond memories for me. I loved my time there.

Downplaying her fitness levels, Leanne soon reached Edale cross and we stopped to talk to a silver Duke of Edinburgh award group who were contemplating a map.

We descended Jacob’s ladder slightly to get a good view of the Vale of Edale and spoke about the peat bogs whilst trying to avoid them underfoot.

Thank you for your time today Leanne. Enjoy your weekend in the Peak District.
